Injection Drying in a Residential Property
At Dehumidifier Rental we can provide drying equipment hire to your property, and we can provide other technical drying and damp monitoring services.
We helped a householder in a ground floor flat in South West London, where a new side return extension had suffered a leak into top of a cavity wall. This wall to the side of the open plan kitchen area was holding a lot of water within the insulation in the cavity.
Drying the cavity wall with simply a dehumidifier and fan within the room would have taken a very long time due to the volume of water within the insulation. Therefore injection drying equipment was used.
We made holes at 1m wide intervals along the bottom of the cavity wall. Into these, we inserted injection hoses which were connected to a turbine pressurising the cavity with dry air. Connected to the turbine was a desiccant dehumidifier generating air of a low moisture content.
At the top of the cavity wall were drilled exit holes for the air movement, from bottom to top of the wall. Damp monitoring at regular intervals was undertaken until the excess moisture had been removed from the cavity. Reinstatement was able to commence in the shorter timeframe required by the resident.
